The Chelsea Physic Garden was established as the Apothecaries’ garden in London in 1673 by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries to grow plants to be used as medicines.

Carl Linnaeus created the binomial system of naming classifying plants & animals. The background repeat pattern on the scarf shows his 1745 botanical garden in Uppsala Sweden which can still be visited.
